How to make a reel with text for free
ReelStudio puts your words on your photos and videos in the right size for each app. It works fully in your browser, so there is nothing to install and your files are never uploaded.
Photo slides & slideshow reels
- Choose Photo slides and add one photo or several.
- Write your text, one line per slide. With one photo, every line gets its own copy of that photo.
- Pick a size, font and text box. Use the arrows to check each slide.
- Download the slides as PNG images for a carousel, or press Export as video to get a slideshow reel, with music if you like.
Captions on your video
- Choose Video captions and add your video.
- Write one line for each part of the video. The lines are spread evenly, or set the seconds per line.
- Press play to check the timing, then Export video. The original sound is kept.

- Keep each line short: 3 to 8 words is ideal
- Leave the safe zone on for 9:16, so buttons don't cover your text

How do I make Instagram Reels slides with text for free?
Choose Photo slides, upload one or more photos and type your text with one line per slide. Pick the 9:16 size, then download the slides as PNG images (one by one or as a ZIP) or export them as a slideshow video.
How do I add text captions to a video?
Choose Video captions, upload your video and type your captions, one line each. Every line appears on the next part of the video automatically, or you can set the seconds per line. Then press Export video.
Can I add music to a slideshow?
Yes. In Photo slides mode, add an audio file (MP3, M4A or WAV) as background music before you export the slideshow video. The music fades out at the end.
Which sizes does ReelStudio support?
9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, 4:5 for Instagram portrait posts, 1:1 for square posts and 16:9 for YouTube videos. Everything is exported in full HD.
Is the video exported as MP4?
In recent Chrome, Edge and Safari the video is saved as MP4. Browsers that cannot record MP4, such as Firefox, save a WebM file, which Instagram, TikTok and YouTube also accept on the web.
Are my photos and videos uploaded?
No. Everything is made inside your browser. Your photos, videos and music never leave your device.
